Our story
Milton of Clova, in the Angus Glens, inside the Cairngorms National Park.
Since 1850
The hotel has stood at the foot of the glen since 1850, and the Batchelor family has cared for it since 1922, today it's run by Hugh Niven, Mrs Batchelor's great-grandson, and his family. Not a chain, not a brand: a family place, with the photographs to prove it.
Powered by the glen
Since 2012 our own hydro scheme on the Loch Brandy burn has generated all of our electricity, and since 2014 a biomass boiler has heated the estate with wood grown on our own land. Effectively, we are completely green, quietly, without the fanfare.
Weddings, our way
A maximum of two weddings weddings a week, you get the personal touch not made to feel that you are on a conveyor belt. Every wedding different, every one relaxed, personal and full of warmth. Mhairi, Fiona and Luke our wedding team, carries the load so you don't have to.

We could fill the calendar - plenty of venues do, and you can feel it in their replies. We host a select number of weddings each year instead, because looking after you for three days can't be done on a conveyor belt. Your date isn't a slot between Saturday changeovers: while you're here, yours is the only wedding on the estate, and the only one we're thinking about.

Ask anyone who's planned a wedding what broke them and they'll say the chasing, the unanswered emails, the vague replies, the feeling of being a number in a spreadsheet. We're the opposite, because we're small enough to be. Call and a human answers. Write and we write back, warmly and quickly. We are totally flexible, so you can have the wedding you want, in the way you want it.
