Meg & Ryan, a packed Clova Kirk, her son walking her down the aisle, and colour everywhere
Meg & Ryan · Spring 2026 · The Kirk
Written by Mhairi Preston, Wedding Coordinator
Meg's son walked her down the aisle of a packed Clova Kirk, a pianist playing. Then came the colour: bold flowers, disco balls on every table, vinyl records for the seating plan, and a party that ran to midnight.
The day
What everyone remembers about Meg and Ryan's wedding is the walk in. Meg came down the aisle of a packed Clova Kirk on her son's arm, a pianist playing, the little church full of people who had waited a long time for this. It's the kind of moment a big venue can't manufacture. The kirk was full to the door, and you could feel it.
Why the kirk
They chose a kirk wedding for a reason that mattered to them. Meg's sister had married in this same little church, so marrying at Clova Kirk kept the day in the family. They had been coming up to Glen Clova since they were kids, back when the arcade machine was the main event. Clova Kirk is non-denominational and sits about a hundred yards from the barn, so the whole day stays in one place, with nobody getting in a car between the vows and the party. They came to that first meeting with a lot of people to invite and a very specific budget, and Mhairi set out to make the day they wanted fit it.
Getting ready, and the walk down
Meg got ready in the cottage and walked down through the cottage gardens, following the old minister's walkway all the way to the kirk. Ryan and the groomsmen spent the morning out on the glen, so the portraits happened on a mountainside two minutes from the ceremony, which isn't something most venues can offer. By the time everyone gathered in the church, the day already felt like theirs.
Colour everywhere
Glen Clova weddings tend to run subtle and floral. Meg and Ryan's did not. Bright red lipstick, bold flowers, disco balls scattered across every table, tall red candles that left wax absolutely everywhere, and vinyl records standing in for the seating plan. A barbecue fed around a hundred and fifty guests. The cake gave us a moment too: Meg went to feed a slice to the kids, then turned on Ryan, who was having none of it. We caught the whole thing on camera. The party ran to midnight.
When their content creator pulled out
Their content creator dropped out at the last minute, the sort of thing that could have left a hole in the day. So we filmed it ourselves. Mhairi and the team picked up a camera and caught the moments that mattered, the walk down the aisle, the cake, the dancing, so Meg and Ryan never had to think about it. It's easier to catch a wobble like that when the whole team is already on site and looking out for you.
The day after
Because everyone stays at Glen Clova, the wedding didn't end when the music did. The next day there was a buffet, lasagna and chicken tikka, for fifty-odd adults and nine kids, with a silent disco to follow. The plan had been the marquee, but its heating had given up, so the team cleaned out the barn, put the dividers up and moved the whole party indoors. Nobody missed a thing.
“Words can't say how grateful we are to Mhairi, Luke and the team at Glen Clova for the incredible wedding experience they provided us.”
